Upper and Lower

Well, the deed has been done
I am officially old now
I have had a colonoscopy

So, you may have heard from your grandparents or parents about how awful everything is.  I suppose they are correct, for their procedure.  However, I can tell you that the prep is NOT bad at all.  Seriously, it was like a Saturday night after pizza and ice cream for me (not to get too graphic).  My trick was to mix the liquid they give you with sparkling water = not too sweet and not too gross.  The medicine must be very cold, and drink it with a straw.  No worries!  I slept normally, awoke, went to my procedure.

I had both an endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time, so I was completely knocked out.  The IV bruise has been the most annoying.  Wait - except (lesson learned), when they say you need to rest for 24-48 hour, you REALLY do need to rest.  Otherwise, cramping, oiy! Internal muscle cramping is what it feels like.  I pushed myself a bit too far and should've stayed home.

I had biopsies taken both from my stomach (gastritis found) and colon (diverticulosis found).

On the upside - my bloated tummy has gone down somewhat noticeably, and 3 lbs are gone!  I continue my food diary tomorrow, and on Tuesday I'll go for bloodwork (thyroid, hormones, adrenal, food and environmental allergies etc).  In 3 weeks I return to the gastroenterologist for a follow-up and pan.  Meanwhile, I am going to meet with my nutritionist friend in the next week or so to begin working in that direction.

Planning on staying gluten free and dairy free.

Planning on looking at a healthier version of myself each day :)
